WILMINGTON, N.C.- It's a 65-year tradition to show off some of Wilmington's most vibrant and elegant flowers.

Gardeners and staff are getting ready for the Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Festival Garden Tours that begin Friday.

The event showcases not just one of the gardens but the 140 Azalea Belles that are on hand to accent each garden.

Wilmington resident Mike Caulder said this is the second time his garden has been on the tour and that he's always up for the challenge.

"Once you are asked to be on it, my mind starts going and I start preparing. We have worked everyday just about doing something in that regard getting ready for this day," said Caulder.

Caulder's stop is number 10 and if you make it by, you will be able to see his Alzheimer's Awareness Garden in honor of his mom.

The tour includes nine private homes along with Airlie Gardens and the Cape Fear Museum Park.
