Saratoga residents have voiced differing opinions when it comes to a proposed Code Blue shelter.

The project, originally proposed in 2017, has stalled after a lawsuit was brought up by nearby neighbors claiming it did not go through the appropriate planning process.

Supporters, including some Code Blue volunteers, say the shelter is an effective and safe way to serve the homeless population in Saratoga in the freezing cold. Opponents argue the shelter shouldn't be built in a residential area just less than a mile away from an elementary school.

The shelter would be on Walworth Street and would provide more than 40 beds to those who need to get out of the cold.
