CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte kicked off its 9th annual Craft Brew Week Friday, drawing thousands of beer enthusiasts for a sampling.

The event features tastings of rare and exotic brews, but also features local and regional breweries as well.

Bold Missy Brewery debuted a beer for the event, and it's the city's only female-owned brewery in the city.

They pay homage to leading women by naming their beers after female pioneers in history.

"We're just about making great beer and one of the things we like to do with that great beer is celebrate women from history," said Head Brewer Carli Smith.

Although it's female-owned, Smith says she wants to make great beer and have something for everyone.
