GOOSE CREEK, S.C. -- Students at Goose Creek High School who can't wash their clothes at home can now get it done at school.

And it's all thanks to a teacher who saw a need for a laundry service.

Goose Creek High is the only school in the state that's part of the Whirlpool Care Counts Program, which is aimed to address attendance issues by providing kids with clean clothes.

Students from Amanda Cooper's service-learning class are volunteering to wash their classmate's clothes.

Cooper noticed there was a need for a laundry service at school and talked with school leaders to make it happen through the help of donations.

The laundry service is part of the Whirlpool Care Counts Program to help improve student attendance.

Students who have access to clean clothing go to school 10 more days than they would without, according to Whirlpool.

They have also shown an 84 percent increase in class participation.

Students must fill out an application to be a part of the program.

Their laundry is returned the same day they bring it in.
