FAYETTEVILLE -- Wavyy Jonez, a former Spring Lake resident and rapper, has landed a role as Biggie Smalls on a USA Network series called 'Unsolved'.

The show recreates the lives and mysterious murders of Notorious B.I.G. and fellow rapper, Tupac Shakur.

The 23-year-old rapper turned actor got his big break after learning about a casting call for the show. Jonez sent in a video and didn't think much of it, but soon, he was jetting off to L.A.

"Greatness can be imitated, but never duplicated," Jonez said. "I could never be B.I.G., so there is always pressure when you try to step into a great one's shoes, you want to avoid that. But I just really wanted to be an instrument to telling this story."

Jonez attended Pine Forest High School. He is now pursuing more acting and living in Los Angeles.
