CHARLOTTE – A recent study names Charlotte as one of the worst places for working women.

In the study, done by Magnify Money, the Queen City comes in at No. 47 out of the 50 metro areas on the list.

The top ten places for working women include: Washington, D.C.; Minneapolis; Sacramento, Calif.; Denver; San Francisco; Seattle; Baltimore; Providence, R.I.; St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo. Raleigh is No. 13.

The top ten worst places for working women include: Detroit; Memphis, Tenn.; Oklahoma City; Charlotte, N.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; Cleveland; Miami; Houston; Pittsburgh and Salt Lake City.   

To come up with the list, the 50 largest metro areas were ranked against each other on a scale of 100, with eight factors in consideration which were relevant to a woman’s ability to achieve financial and professional success in the workplace: employment, health care, business ownership, management positions, wage gap, child care, representation and workplace protections.
