RALEIGH -- Downtown Raleigh was painted green with people from all over lined up on the streets for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The parade started in 1983, and has continued with the efforts of "The Friends of Ireland."

Dozens of groups and bands participated in the parade from dancing troops, dog grooming services, Tae Kwon Do teams and our local fire and police departments.

A lot of the attendees said it was their first stop, as the St. Patrick's Day celebration will continue into the night.
