FAYETTEVILLE -- Fayetteville PWC customers could see slightly higher electric bills starting in May after PWC officials voted to increase rates by 2.7 percent.

PWC says for residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, your bill could go up by three dollars and some change.

"Predominately, the rate increases are being driven by increased wholesale power costs that PWC has to pay to Duke Energy," said PWC CEO David Trego.

Some customers say they're still heated over the changes.

"I'm trying to understand why my bill continuously goes up and yet I'm doing things in order to conserve," William Brown said.

Another added fee you'll see in May is a monthly service surcharge of about two dollars. PWC says this is due to a settlement the company reached with Duke Energy to pay for coal ash cost recovery.
