Sunday and Monday for most of us will feature a cold rain. But Sunday night through Monday morning some of us will see a transition to snow. Some light accumulation near I-40 is possible but mainly on grassy surfaces. South of there, through the Charlotte metro area, some snow may mix in but no accumulation is expected. Travel in those locations will likely be fine with just wet roads. It will be a different story up in the mountains. Accumulating snow is likely Sunday night with 3 to 5 inches possible. A few spots may get even more. Travel in the mountains may be quite difficult Sunday night and Monday. Because of all of this, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for our mountain counties starting Sunday evening. Be safe out there!
