SALISBURY, N.C. -- A decade has passed since the tragic loss of two Salisbury firefighters, Justin Monroe and Vic Isler.

To honor the men, the city of Salisbury held their annual memorial service Wednesday morning.

During the ceremony, Mayor Al Heggins announced the new fire station and training center will be named after the two fallen heroes.

It’s a small token of appreciation for the sacrifice they gave, but Victoria Isler, Vic Isler’s niece says for Vic and Justin’s family it means the world.

“He would really just think it was funny and crazy that that’s happening but he deserves it,” says Victoria Isler.  “He and Justin truly deserve it and it’s such a beautiful honor.

The city hopes to have the new fire station and training center complete in July of 2019.
