DURHAM -- Tammie and Charleston Goodman, Sr. still believe their missing son is still alive.

"A lot of tears. A lot of praying. A lot of trusting in God," Tammie says.

Police say four men kidnapped Charleston Goodman, Jr. in late January. The suspects stuffed him in a minivan, a silver Honda Odyssey, possible between a 2005 and 2008 model. Officers say there was damage to the passenger side sliding door. It happened outside his apartment complex on East Woodcroft Parkway.

Tammie says she saw the kidnapping and tried to stop the van from getting away.

"I heard him yelling for help and I jumped up and ran outside and it was like four guys shoving him into a van," she said.

Police haven't said if they think Goodman knew his kidnappers.

"And I know he didn't know them and neither did I," adds Tammie.

Family and friends have held search parties and a vigil Tuesday night to celebrate her son's 27th birthday. Tammie believes her son is still alive.

"Because anytime anything happens with my children, I always know. I know right away."

The family says Goodman is a God-fearing father who loves his 5-year-old daughter. She even wrote a letter to her missing father.

"She said, 'I love you dad. I really miss you. I hope you come home soon,' and she said she was praying for the people who took him," said Tammy.

The family created a Facebook page for their missing son, hoping their faith will lead him home.
