PITTSBORO, N.C. – A Greensboro man, who was exonerated for killing a store clerk in Granville County more than 30 years ago, is now charged in a separate murder case.

Sixty-four-year-old Willie Womble is charged with killing 54-year-old Donna Todd. He was arrested in Greensboro.

Todd’s body was found in her apartment on Creekside Circle in Pittsboro last April.

Womble was released from prison in 2014.

A three-judge panel vacated his life sentence after another man confessed to the crime.

At last report, Womble was still being held in the Guilford County Detention Center.
