SUGAR MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- At least one high country ski slope has already closed for the season, but Sugar Mountain isn't giving up just yet.

In recent weeks, temperatures have hit the 70s melting snow and leaving only two slopes open.

Sugar Mountain's president says the only reason they're still open is because they made so much snow early in the season.

They're hoping to blow more snow during the colder overnight hours within the next week

"As soon as we see some change that stays with us, hopefully by the end of the week we will get the upper mountain running again," Sugar Mountain president Gunther Jochl said.

Temperatures in the mountains could drop to the 30s overnight on Monday.
