CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – A man was shot and killed in Catawba County Wednesday during an attempted robbery.

Two of his accomplices have been arrested, but not for the shooting. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office says Shane Cauthen was shot during the robbery and he later died at the hospital.      

It happened at a home on Fairview Drive. The sheriff's office says Cauthen,  Dylan Gates and Cory Ingram were trying to rob someone who lived there when shots were fired from the home, hitting Cauthen four times.

Gates and Ingram are charged with attempted robbery.
