CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An Uptown development is continuing a recent trend in Charlotte.

The AC Hotel & Residence Inn are dual-branded hotels planned to open this spring. Along with bringing 300 hotel rooms to the Epicenter, the 22-story building will feature a rooftop bar and lounge.

Several hotels in Charlotte already feature a rooftop bar, and more are in development. AC Hotel general manager, Don Lockhart, says amenities are being specifically designed to draw guests out of their rooms.

"We typically make more money when guests are outside of the guest rooms,” Lockhart said. “We want them to have a good drink at the bar. We want them to have some food. So, it's all about interacting with one another."

More than 2,200 hotel rooms are planned or under construction in Uptown Charlotte.
