CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Super Bowl means football and plenty of food. One of the most popular items on most people's menu is chicken wings.

John Thompson, a chicken farmer and one of the owners of Prestige Farms, says 1.3 billion pounds of wings are eaten around the country during the game.

At DD Peckers Wing Shack in South Charlotte, the staff is expecting to see 14,000 wings.

Justin Holland, the restaurant's owner, says this is the busiest day of the year and his team has their game plan set.

"People have been calling in for two weeks now, and there's only a certain number of wings we can sell in an hour, and we've learned our lesson the hard way that we don't want to overbook," Holland says. "So we have a limit we can do and we cut it off, and fit people in where we have to."

Holland says the most wings they've ever sold during a Super Bowl is 17,000 when the Panthers were in it in 2016.
