LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. – It was a scary close call for some students returning from school Monday afternoon.

A North Lincoln Middle School bus ran off the road in Denver.

Troopers said the driver was turning left from Fay Jones Road onto Christopher Road when the tires hit the edge of the road. Mud on the side of the street caused the bus to slide off into the brushes and slightly tip over.

The bus was full of students but no one was hurt. The kids were loaded off the bus while a tow truck pulled the bus from the mud.

The students were later loaded back on and taken home on the same bus.
