HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A Huntersville town official is facing charges stemming from a domestic assault.

Town Manager, Gerry Vincent, was arrested Sunday night for simple assault. He was appointed to the role last July after serving as interim town manager.

Other town officials were called together for a special closed meeting Monday. Following the meeting, the town released a statement saying, "This is an unfortunate personal matter for Mr. Vincent and his family. We cannot comment further on this matter at this time."

Commissioner Dan Boone said they received his resignation Monday morning and they accepted. It's been announced that Jackie Huffman will be the interim town manager.
