CHARLOTTE -- Wednesday's snow left behind icy roads Thursday.

Driving was extremely dangerous Thursday morning and anyone who can stay off the roads should do so.

The main roads like interstates and the roads mostly used for commutes are pretty clear because of prep work NCDOT did.

CMPD said from midnight to 9 p.m. Wednesday, they worked 201 accidents and 33 of those had injuries.

They also said there were 55 road blocks and disabled vehicles, bring the total number of crashes to 256.

Officers say they typically work 170 accidents in a 24-hour period.

State officials are asking people to stay off roads today and the ice continues to melt.
