CHARLOTTE -- Just last week, we were telling you about a ChapStick controversy in schools.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools mother was upset someone confiscated her son's ChapStick in class and the school required her to have a signed note from a doctor for him to apply it.

We asked you to weigh in on our Facebook page. More than 700 people voted, and 91 percent are against that policy.

Now, we have an update on the response from that school.

The family met with officials to discuss the issue.

After a little bit of research, the school decided to draft new guidelines allowing a parent permission form for products such as lip balm and lotions to be used.

They ask that products also be labeled with the child's name along with an understanding they are not to be shared.
