RALEIGH -- The doors of Raleigh's very first "pay what you can" cafe are now open.

A Place at the Table offers customers the chance to pay more or less than the suggested amount for their meal. Customers can also volunteer in exchange for their food.

Those with the cafe say they want everyone to feel welcome regardless of their economic status.

"I am feeling really excited," says executive director Maggie Kane. "It's been three years and we are finally here, like you said, and it's better than any of us could have ever thought."

There are 60 other cafes like this in the country, including one in Boone called  F.A.R.M Cafe.

The restaurant is located at 330 W. Hargett Street.
