Spectrum News has learned new details about one of the suspects accused of last month’s quadruple homicide in Troy.

Michael Saccocio, the executive director for City Mission of Schenectady, says 38-year-old James White was a resident at his shelter for several months. According to Saccocio, White left the shelter nearly a year ago, and was argumentative and had trouble connecting with the other residents.

White arrived at City Mission after serving a nearly decade-long sentence for manslaughter. Saccocio says the shelter attempted to get him assimilated to their environment, but White never made the adjustment.

“It's just devastating," Saccocio said. "Hard to go forward. The good news is that the great majority of people do well here, but to see someone you knew, part of your community, be accused of committing an act so horrific, it’s hard to keep going forward."

Saccocio also said White was involved in an altercation just outside the shelter’s premises in December, forcing the shelter to call police.
