ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- An Onslow County man is lucky to be alive after falling into a grain silo Thursday afternoon.

Maj. Chris Thomas with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office says they received a call at 1 p.m. saying that a man had fallen and was trapped inside of a silo near Maysville.

Multiple agencies worked tirelessly for hours trying to pull the man out. They say they never lost hope because they were able to hear the man talking.

The 33 year old was rescued around 7 p.m. and taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.
