GREENSBORO, N.C. -- While some of us are enjoying holiday festivities, mail carriers across the state are on the move.

The United States Postal Service in Greensboro expects to deliver close to 12,000 packages on Christmas Eve alone.

Ronald White, a USPS Post Master, said, "The pressure's been that we've had a tremendous increase in our parcels this year. It's been between 10 to 15 percent growth over what we had last year which was a record year for us. With online ordering now, more people are engaging in that process and it's been a great thing for us."

White adds that USPS started prepping for the Christmas season early this year, as they saw a peak in package numbers a week before Thanksgiving.

"Year to date, nationwide we've delivered about 850 million packages," White said "In our city here, we've been averaging 18,000 to 20,000 packages a day."

You can now track your packages every step of the way through the USPS app or website
