LANCASATER COUNTY, S.C. -- Christmas gift came early for 7-year-old Austin Cauthen and his parents, Shawn and Emily.

Austin has a rare muscle disorder called myotubular myopathy. It weakens his muscles, so Austin can’t stand, walk or swallow.

He also has a machine that helps him breathe, but that machine needs to be monitored 24/7.

So up until Friday, without a proper wheelchair van, Austin’s father Shawn told us traveling as a family has been difficult.

It would take extra 30 to 40 minutes to get Austin’s medical equipment and his heavy wheelchair into an SUV.

But now, thanks to All Things Possible Ministries’ fundraising efforts, the Cauthens have a wheelchair accessible van.

“We received so much help from so many different people, and just knowing that there are people who are willing to help and just make a little boy's life easier, it's just super exciting,” Shawn Cauthen said.
