CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- A Camp Lejeune marine was awarded friday for his life-saving actions.

2nd Lieutenant Spenser D. Preston was presented a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for saving the life of a fellow marine.

Last week, Preston witnessed a pick-up truck strike the marine who was riding his motorcyle in Hubert.

When Preston ran over to help, he saw the marine was loosing a lot of blood from his injuries.

Preston sprung into action using an impromtu tourniquet from a Marine Corps martial arts belt and a personal belt.

He was able to apply it to the wound and stop the bleeding until EMS arrived.

Preston says he speaks with the injured marine's mother daily to see how he's doing.
