WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Layoffs are coming at Winston-Salem-based Krispy Kreme.

The company says that 90 people have been informed that their positions are being eliminated.

The doughnut maker says it will keep its global headquarters, and the majority of employees in Winston-Salem, and continue to operate its mix plant and equipment manufacturing in the Twin City.

It'll also be expanding into new offices in Charlotte and London in 2018.

Effected employees will be getting severance, bonuses, health and outplacement benefits.

Krispy Kreme says the move comes as it continues to transform into a global company.
