The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, and for those traveling across central North Carolina there should be no issues as far as travel goes for most of the day.

Travelers heading out on the roads early in the morning, particularly across parts of I-77, I-485, and I-85, will likely be running into some patchy to even dense fog. However, with drier air moving in from the northwest, fog should lift shortly after daybreak, leaving mostly sunny skies for the rest of the day.

Temperatures will be seasonable with highs in the low to mid 60s across the Piedmont.

For those traveling by plane across the country, the "problem areas" will be the Pacific Northwest, like Seattle and Portland, along with New England and the northeastern third of Florida into southern Georgia. These areas could very well experience delays due to heavy rainfall in the northwest, thunderstorm activity across the eastern coast of Florida, and even a wintry mix possible across interior parts of New England.

Looking further into the holiday weekend, the Piedmont, mountains, and foothills will enjoy quiet, uneventful weather with a good amount of sunshine that will continue into next week.
