NORTH CAROLINA -- Wednesday is one of the busiest travel days during Thanksgiving week at RDU airport.

The TSA security checkpoint line began wrapping around the perimeter of the terminal early Wednesday morning.

About 30,000 people are expected to make their way through the terminals at RDU and Charlotte-Douglas International Airport throughout the day.

Officials recommend travelers give themselves at least two hours or more to park, check their bags, and get themselves checked in before taking off.

More than 204,000 travelers are expected to come through RDU through Sunday, and 244,000 travelers, plus an additional 100,000 who have connections, at Charlotte-Douglas International.

Greensboro's PTI Airport greeted travelers with refreshments and live entertainment before boarding.

Peak travel time on Sunday is between 3 and 7 p.m.
