ELON -- One in three people surveyed in an Elon University poll say, the opioid crisis affects them or someone they know. Of the 771 people polled, 31 percent say they are affected and 67 percent say they are not affected.

One of the questions asked was, if people thought their communities have the resources to respond to an opioid crisis. 42.5 percent of people answered 'no' and 28.5 percent said 'yes.'

Overall, most people believe changes to the health care system is the answer over jail time.
