With six out of the seven days so far this month topping off with above average highs in Charlotte, there's no question that November has been off to an unseasonably warm start.

With the passage of a cold frontal boundary Tuesday, Wednesday will kick off a period of much cooler weather, coming as a drastic change from the autumn warmth central North Carolina has enjoyed so far this season.

Winds continuing out of the north and east Wednesday into Thursday will set up "cold-air damming" across the region, leading to overcast skies and periods of patchy, light drizzle through Wednesday afternoon.

Mountain areas will likely see there high temperature early Wednesday morning with other areas across the Piedmont likely only warming two to three degrees from Wednesday morning's low.

Another swath of rain will move in Wednesday night into Thursday morning before the cloud cover and showers begin tapering off Thursday afternoon.

A cold, but dry, cold front expected to swing through late Thursday into Friday will bring another push of cold air along with the return of sunshine for the end of the work week into the first half of the weekend and some cold nights ahead.

Highs Saturday will struggle to reach into the 50s across the Piedmont with lows cooling quickly to below freezing overnight.
