He voluntarily arrived at the Richardson Police Station with his attorney and asked to speak with detectives. He provided a different statement of events from those which he had given previously, regarding the disappearance of Sherin Mathews.

He originally told police he ordered the child to stand outside of their home at around 3 a.m. on Oct. 7 as punishment for not drinking her milk. He said when he went to check on her about 15 minutes later, she was gone.

Wesley Mathews is currently in the Richardson City Jail and his bond has been set at $1,000,000. His charges carry a punishment of life in prison or a term of five to 99 years.

Authorities are still awaiting a positive identification from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office of the body found near the home.
