NEW YORK - Another public battle is revving up between Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The mayor says he just found out driverless cars will be tested in the city by reading the press release about it.

But the governor's office says the city was  told two months ago before preliminary mapping got underway.

Governor Cuomo announced Tuesday that General Motors and its subsidiary Cruise Automation are applying to test unmanned vehicles in Manhattan as early as next year and that GM has already started mapping a test site in Lower Manhattan.

The mayor says City Hall was not given enough heads up on the plan, and he has concerns about safety issues.

Under the proposal, an engineer and passenger would be in the car during the testing and have a state police escort.
