We had some hot temperatures to wrap up last week, and I anticipate an ever hotter airmass to set up shop around the region late this work week and into the weekend. An upper level ridge, which Monday was located over the Plains states, will develop into the Southeast for Friday and the weekend. The result? Lots of heat, and plenty of humidity.

Many piedmont high temperatures will likely wind up in the 95-99 degree range during this period, and with high humidity levels will in place, afternoon heat index values should easily exceed 105 at times.

Outside of a few isolated pop-up storms, rain chances will remain scarce during this period as well.
