CONCORD, N.C. – A Concord woman is asking for suitcase donations all for a good cause.

The "Suitcases of Hope" program aims to give foster kids something to carry their belongings in other than trash bags.

Twenty-year-old Ashley Garcia, who is the program’s organizer, was a foster child and remembers how hard it was for her.

Now, Garcia wants to pay it forward to others going through similar situations.

“Some of these kids that are being ripped out of their homes don’t have anything,” said Garcia. “So for them to even have a bag it’s already heartwarming to them. It’s Christmas Day. ‘Wow, I got something.’”

The suitcases can be used as foster kids travel from home to home until they find a forever home.
