WATAUGA COUNTY -- Fire crews in Watauga County have been working non-stop to keep everyone safe.
In two days Horton fire in Boone went from 20 percent contained to 65 percent.
Earlier this week 55 people had been evacuated, but on Friday, the Red Cross had packed up their temporary shelter just north of Boone.
An Arizona fire crew, which fought the Chestnut Knob Fire for six days, says this Horton fire has been a different ballgame.
“It's more the complexity that's involved with it, like fuels models, like fuel loading, dead snags, topography and then different winds when you have all these mountainous areas you got winds that can come out from different areas that can influence that fire behavior,” said Arizona firefighter Rocky Ortiz.
The command team for the Horton fire changed hands Friday.
Rodney Weeks Type 3 North Idaho Incident Management Team is now leading efforts to give crews a break and give them a chance to be available for any new fire starts.
