CHARLOTTE—The nation's top health official is making North Carolina a priority in the run-up to the Affordable Care Act open enrollment deadline.
Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell stopped by ACA sign-up locations like Headlines Barbershop Friday.
She says sending enrollment navigators to places like barbershops have been important for the program's success.
“Because we know, and we've been listening to our consumers and you need to meet them where they are in terms of places where they come, and they learn from trusted voices,” she said.
The deadline to get ACA coverage and avoid penalties for next year is Dec. 15.
