CHARLOTTE—The brothers of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity got a taste of what it was like to be homeless Friday night.

The UNC-Charlotte students slept outside to raise awareness about the homeless community of Charlotte. One member said it was more difficult than he thought it would be.

"It was actually a tougher experience, it was actually tougher than I thought becase we've had people come through this breezeway that've helped us, they provided drinks and food and then we had blankets that provided heat for us and in the real homeless world it's not like that,” said Brian Thompson.

They also accepted donations of food and clothing during the event.
