FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Between 90 and 150 soldiers are punching with a purpose at Fort Bragg's Combatives Tournament.

Hand-to-hand fighting skills from wrestling, judo, taekwondo and other martial arts are showcased at the event.

Organizers say those kind of skills can make all the difference in surviving the unpredictable dangers of the battlefield.

The event runs through Saturday night and is open to the public.

For the first time, the Combatives Tournament will also feature a team competition along with the individual contests.
