CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- French food doesn’t have to be a foreign concept, and that is evident at La Belle Helene.

  • La Belle Helene is a French brasserie in Uptown.
  • The eatery has a 1920s aesthetic.
  • The specialty is the Poulet rôti “Rouge Fermier”

Walking into La Belle Helene is like walking into a true french brasserie. But this authentic dining experience is still accessible to an American palate.

“A lot of what we do is very rustic and country French cooking,” executive chef Michael Rouleau said.

The aesthetic of the food is only matched by the 1920s-inspired setting. “It is a little piece of France right here in center Charlotte,” general manager Frederick Leonard said.

The same architect known for some of the most famous Parisian restaurants designed a stunning but intimate dining area at La Belle Helene.

“Brings the old and the past of Paris all together with something that you would actually see in a new brand restaurant in Paris,” said Leonard.

The restaurant creates an elegant experience; bringing a certain je ne sais quoi to the Queen City.
