RALEIGH, NC. – Thanksgiving may be over, but holiday celebrations are just beginning. This year a family tradition is back and it's bigger and better than ever, the Holiday Pops Extravaganza! NC Symphony spokesperson Meredith Laing, and the head of the Oakwood Waits, Rob Maddrey, sat down with Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair for a glimpse at what to expect at this year’s event.

Filled with heartwarming music both by carolers and performers on stage, this year’s Holiday Pops Extravaganza will feature selections from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s repertoire. And leading the charge in Raleigh will be the Symphony’s own Karen Stittmatter Galvin, who will play the electric violin. Oakwood Waits carolers, falling snow, sing-along music and a chorus line of dancing Santas, will make the event you will never forget.

Families can also take pictures with Santa, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa, and donate much needed food to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and the Backpack Buddies program, to help our neighbors in need.

But that’s not all. The NC Symphony is taking the show on the road, performing in a number of cities across the state including Goldsboro, Tarboro, Chapel Hill, Louisburg, New Bern, Southern Pines, Jacksonville, and Wilmington. A shortened version will also take place at noon during the Friday Favorites concert in Raleigh on November 20th.

If you would like to come enjoy this weekends events, they’re taking place Meymandi Concert Hall in Downtown Raleigh, Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at 3pm. For time and ticket information, or to learn about the traveling show, visit their website.
