MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- Americans are expected to spend more money this year on Super Bowl Sunday. According to the National Retail Federation, an average adult is expected to spend some $81.17. That's an increase of 8.5 percent in spending from last year.

Whether you’re heading to your favorite local restaurant or cooking for friends and family at home, we have some tips to help make sure you have a ball on Super Bowl Sunday.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with Jimmy White, owner of Buffalo Wings and Rings in Morrisville, and his Chef Adam Hughes, for some tips on how to make the most out of your game day experience.

They say on Super Bowl Sunday, they have an influx of customers ready to enjoy the big game.  But many looking to call in a take-out order often dial in around the same time. White says if you know what time you want to pick up your food, make sure to call well in advance to place the order so you’re at the top of the list.

Hughes says wings are by far their biggest seller for the Super Bowl, and they order a ton in advance. But he says if you plan on making your own at home, try frying or baking them before adding the sauce. That will ensure they’re crispy and crunchy. White then suggests adding your favorite sauce to a bowl with a lid, and shaking the wings to evenly cover the chicken.

White also says nachos are a huge seller in their restaurant. He says if you want to make them at home, make sure to have a variety of toppings for guests to sprinkle on top. And melted queso fresco cheese is a must to add a kick to your chips.
