RALEIGH -- Deciding to sell your home can be a scary decision. And when it comes to repairs, renovations and Realtors, you may be wary about choosing to stage your home. But experts in the industry say properly setting your home for sale is key, and can really pay off in the long run.

Spectrum News Anchor Caroline Blair sat down with Showhomes Franchise owner, Fred Pierson, and Staging Designer Kristy Slater, for a look at how we all can benefit from a few simple steps when selling our home.

Now a days, Pierson says the average buyer looks online first. So he says it's incredibly important to have professional photos taken of your home. He also says the average buyer visits multiple homes a day when searching, so it's important to make your house standout.

To do that, Salter says to declutter your home and create a clean and open space. She says that will help make the house look larger and more marketable to potential buyers. She also says to depersonalize your home, by removing family photos or names. This allows potential buyers to see themselves in the space. They also say it's important to remember the outside of your.  Curb appeal is crucial and can make or break a first impression.
